Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Sharekit ("we", "us", "our") is a file sharing service operated from India and accessible at sharekit.in. For any privacy questions, contact us at support@sharekit.in.

2. What information we collect

Information you provide

• Account information: When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash — never plain text).
• Files you upload: Files you transfer through Sharekit are stored on our servers temporarily until the link expiry date. We do not read, analyze, or access your file contents.
• Transfer metadata: File name, file size, upload timestamp, expiry date, and download count.
• Optional information: If you choose password protection, we store a SHA-256 hash of the password — never the password itself.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: Pages visited, features used, error reports (to help us fix bugs).
• Device information: Browser type and version, operating system. We do not collect your IP address or precise location.

3. How we use your information

We use your information only to:

• Provide and improve the Sharekit service
• Send you important service emails (account confirmation, password reset, plan expiry reminders)
• Track your usage against your plan limits (e.g., how many GB you've used this month)
• Detect and prevent abuse or illegal activity on the platform

We do not use your data to show you advertisements, build behavioral profiles, or sell to third parties — ever.

4. How we share your information

We share your data only with the following service providers, strictly to operate Sharekit:

• Supabase — user accounts and database (servers in Singapore/ap-south-1)
• Filestack — file storage and delivery CDN
• Cashfree — payment processing for Pro and Unlimited subscriptions

All three providers are contractually bound to protect your data and cannot use it for their own purposes. We do not share your data with any other party unless required by Indian law.

5. File storage and deletion

Files you upload are stored on Filestack's secure servers. After a transfer link expires, files are permanently and irreversibly deleted. There is no recovery after deletion.

• Free plan: Files deleted after 3 days
• Pro plan: Files deleted after up to 30 days
• Unlimited plan: Files stored indefinitely until you delete them

If you delete your account, all your files and transfer records are permanently deleted within 7 days.

6. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data:

• All connections to Sharekit use HTTPS with TLS 1.3 encryption
• Files at rest are encrypted using AES-256
• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — we cannot recover your password
• Every uploaded file is scanned for malware before it becomes available for download
• Database access is protected with Row Level Security — users can only see their own records

7. Cookies

Sharekit uses only essential cookies: a session cookie to keep you logged in, and a language preference cookie. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Update your name via the dashboard; email us to update your email
• Deletion: Request full account and data deletion by emailing support@sharekit.in
• Portability: Request an export of your transfer history

To exercise any of these rights, email support@sharekit.in. We will respond within 7 business days.

9. Children's privacy

Sharekit is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify registered users by email. The updated policy will always be available at sharekit.in/privacy.html with the effective date shown at the top.
